Content Modules:
1.1 Color and Perception

a) Learnings / Added Value
Which environmental factors diminish color and contrast perception.
What differences in contrast perception occur in various contexts.
How to cater to color blind audiences.
How to test for color and contrast.

b) Content detail
Through the EAA (European Accessibility Act) every vending machine and digital human machine interface has to meet accessibility standards.
We will look at automated check–out counters in supermarkets, parking ticket machines, as well as the world wide web.
Contrast and color perception will vary.
Not only because of environmental cues such as surrounding light, temperature or weather, but also because of our own inner capabilitie to process color related information.

1.2 Mobile Screenreaders

a) Learnings / Added Value
Practical application of human–machine interaction through your own mobile devices.

Learn how to navigate target oriented without using your visual senses.
Google Android Users = Talkback
Apple IOS Users = VoiceOver

b) Content detail
Starting your learning journey, how to navigate the digital world blindly.
Using mobile screenreaders to navigate through various and specified tasks.

1.3 Desktop Screenreaders

a) Learnings / Added Value
Practical application through your own laptop computers.

Learn how to navigate target oriented without using your visual senses.
Windows environment = N.V.D.A. (Non Visual Desktop Access)
Apple Macintosh Users = VoiceOver

b) Content detail
Beginning to explore desktop application navigation by hearing and keyboard interaction.
Focus on the basics as well as experiencing the first short cuts in each assistive tool.

1.4 Structure

a) Learnings / Added Value
How to structure visual UI for cognitively disabled audiences.

Overview of HTML structure for assistive technologies such as screen reader or tabbed navigation.

b) Content detail
Often technical issues with interfaces are merely symptoms of the underlying problem.
The skillset that is going to be built in this module is, how to spot patterns in structural failures of human machine interfaces.
E.g. exploring the semantic logic for alternative navigation and interaction.
Herein we will investigate why and how it is crucial to «keep it simple».
