Modules
Joomla!
Show in appDescription
Modules in Joomla are content blocks displayed in fixed positions on the frontend - for example the main navigation, a login form, a search bar, or a custom text area. The available positions are defined by the active template. This skill covers what modules are, the core module types Joomla provides, and how to manage and configure them in the backend.
Goals
I know
- what a module is in Joomla and how it differs from a component or plugin
- that modules are placed in template positions defined by the active template
- what core module types Joomla provides
- that modules can be shown or hidden depending on which page is being viewed
I can
- find and open the module manager in the Joomla backend
- enable or disable a module
- assign a module to a template position
- configure on which pages (menu items) a module is displayed
