TYPO3 File Architecture

TYPO3

Show in app

Description

Every TYPO3 extension follows a defined directory and file structure that determines where PHP classes, configuration, templates, and public assets are placed. Alongside this, correctly set file and directory permissions at the operating system level are essential for both a functional and secure installation. Integrators need to understand both aspects to structure extensions correctly and harden their TYPO3 deployments.

Goals

  • I know which files and folders TYPO3 generates and their purpose.
  • I know which permissions on Linux/UNIX-based systems have to be set for files/folders for optimal TYPO3 performance.
  • I know that [SYS][UTF8filesystem] controls whether TYPO3 stores file names in UTF-8, that its default value is true, and that a UTF-8 compatible server locale configured via [SYS][systemLocale] is required for this to work correctly.
