Important Actions in the System Maintainer Area

TYPO3

Show in app

Description

The system maintainer area groups all administrative backend modules that go beyond content editing and user management. It is only accessible to backend users who have both admin privileges and system maintainer status. If the backend is unavailable, the Install Tool can be accessed directly via URL after filesystem verification. Sometimes it's necessary to clear all TYPO3 caches, including the opcode and dependency injection caches in the system maintainer area/the Install Tool (e.g., after major upgrades).

Goals

  • I can lock and unlock the Install Tool.
  • I can create new BE administrators.
  • I can flush all the caches.
  • I can compare and fix database schema definitions.
  • I can run upgrade wizards.
  • I know that I can identify broken or incompatible extensions in the “Upgrade” module.
  • I know how to check file and directory permissions.
  • I know that I can execute certain admin tool functions via CLI commands (for example, clear cache, update language packs, create admin accounts, and run upgrade wizard).
