Managing Backend Users and Backend User Groups

TYPO3

Show in app

Description

Backend users and groups are stored at the root of the page tree, editable only by admin users. Permissions are primarily defined on groups rather than directly on user records. A user can belong to multiple groups including sub-groups, and all permissions are merged additively. Users and groups can be managed via the Administration > Users module.

Goals

  • I understand what backend users and backend groups are.
  • I know how to configure backend groups.
  • I know how to bundle user groups and inherit rights from other groups.
  • I know how to configure access to specific backend modules.
  • I know what allowed fields are and how to show/hide them to backend users.
  • I know how to compare backend users and backend user groups.
